April 25th is a special time of year when Australia and New Zealand pause to reflect upon the sacrifices made by servicemen and women in the line of duty.
Each year, veterans and the RSL require assistance to run these events. Our veterans, especially those who served in the Second World War are finding it more difficult each year to complete the march and appreciate our assistance.
Scouts Victoria will again be supporting the Anzac Day Commemoration Council and the Returned & Services League at the 2014 march in Melbourne. Each year, hundreds of Scouts volunteer their time to carry unit designation signs, march with banners, assist at the Shrine, staff pedestrian crossing points, Marshal, support and supervise our youth members, take photos and much more.
Expressions of interest for assisting with the March are to be sent to Glenn on . We are particularly keen to hear from Rovers, Venturers and Leaders who have assisted previously and wish to undertake the same role this year. The final details will be available Thursday at and will be sent directly to those who have already registered their interest. We also encourage all members to register their attendance via the website, as this will allow us to keep you up to date with any last minute changes.
We will be assembling in Federation Square at 7.50am to ensure that we have everyone in position in time for step off at 9am. Don’t worry if you can’t get in to the city by then as we still have plenty of jobs that need doing throughout the morning. We expect the parade to finish around 1pm and Scouts who have supported the march have again been invited to march at the end of the parade.
