The Victorian Branch Youth Council (BYC) held it's first meeting on 13th April to commence planning for the establishing of the Council. The first members have been presented with the challenge of setting the direction forward, to ensure that our Youth Council operates in a manner relevant to the youth members of Scouts Victoria.
The BYC will provide an important mechanism for youth involvement in the decision making processes of Scouting in Victoria and will be consulted on a range of issues affecting young people in Scouting. The work of the BYC will consider a range of topics and issues requested by various Branch Committees as well as investigation into matters identified by members of the BYC.
We will be looking for more members very soon, with applications for our September intake opening in June. Membership to the BYC is open to youth members aged between 13 and 23 (inclusive) who are actively involved in the program of their Scout Troop, Venturer Unit or Rover Crew.
