Wild magazine, together with Sea to Summit and Outdoor Education Australia, is launching an exciting new competition for Youth Members from Grade 5 (older Cubs)  to Year 12 (Venturers/Rovers): the First Annual Wild Writers Competition.

The competition encourages children to develop their writing skills while appreciating the outdoors. The topic is My Wilderness Experience. Entries are now open and close Friday 29 March 2013. This allows Leaders to plan activities over summer and a term for youth members to work on their pieces, which can be in any written form fewer than 750 words.

Wild requests that Leaders enter selected works to Wild Writers. Sea to Summit will supply prizes to first, second and third place getters in the following age groups: Grades 5 and 6; Years 7 and 8; Years 9 and 10; and Years 11 and 12. Category winners will receive a fantastic Traverse XT1 sleeping bag worth $599.95, second place getters will win a Black Diamond daypack worth $129.95, and third place getters take home an X-Series three-piece set worth $59.95.

The judging panel comprises writers and adventurers. Winners and some finalists will also be published in Wild magazine and the website. All announcements will be made on the Wild.com.au website.
