Scouts Australia is currently partnering with the Human Rights Commission to promote their Cyberbullying and the Bystander Campaign, to create awareness on the plight of cyberbullying.
The campaign was launched via the BackMeUp Competition, a video competition encouraging young people between the ages of 13-17 to make a video on how they would backup someone who has been cyber bullied. Research on bullying has found that the vast majority of bullying incidents occur in front of bystanders, the majority of whom either feel powerless to act or actually encourage the bullying.
The ten winners and their parents/guardians will receive an all-expenses paid trip to Sydney to spend a week at NIDA, creating a professional short film. Entrants can also win JB HiFi vouchers.
Details of this competition can be found here.
The deadline for this competition is 15 August 2012.
Scouts Australia is currently promoting the campaign and competition on their website and social media channels.
