Abseiling
Abseiling is the recreational sport of descending a cliff safely, while attached to a rope. The Victorian Branch Abseiling Council [VBAC] is an activity unit attached to the Adventurous Activities section of Scouts Australia, Victorian Branch. There are a number of satellite teams throughout Victoria which are attached to the VBAC.
It is the objective of VBAC to promote the sport of Abseiling throughout the associations and to ensure that all persons conducting these Activities do so with the best technical and practical skills and training available. All Abseiling Activity Guides hold formal qualifications (to national standards) which must current and reviewed on a regular basis.
Who Can Participate:
- Cub Scouts (limited to approved artificial towers, max 15m height)
- Scouts
- Venturers
- Rovers
- Leaders
How Can You Participate:
Abseiling can take place on approved towers at a number of Scout Camp Sites and in some cases various groups may also have approved static towers.
Apart from these the VBAC also has a mobile tower which can be used and is ideal for promotional and scouting activities.
For the Scout, Venturer and Rover sections, there is also the possibility of using cliff sites; these are commonly full day or weekend activities.
To arrange an activity, simply contact the VBAC Booking officer (or your local Satellite team is appropriate) who will be able to assist. To contact the Satellite team/s please refer to the current Info Book for details.
You can also visit the Abseiling teams website from the contact page.
